Cut from the flesh of lamb,
What life is in its blood
That causes man to stand?
What food the lamb did chew
To cause his blood to run
Within his heart what strength,
Which grass took from the sun?
For grass did grow in life,
Most humble, rooted, fixed.
From soil's death, it sprang
Then in lamb life was mixed.
What power came from sun
That caused the lamb to bleat
Until man cut its throat
And fed upon his meat?
