After that man got caught up in the clouds,
The one who didn't throw any stones at you,
And left you there by yourself?
Did that Spirit he sent afterwards
Keep you warm and filled?
Did you go back to your old job?
Did your sixth husband take care of you, then?
How do you take a lover
After you've wept on the feet of Christ?
What man allows that,
You who anointed him with perfume?
Did you take Adam's hoe in your hands,
And set about to gardening,
Or did you walk back into Eden,
Naked, but wiser of snakes?
