Mothers, if you love your sons, 

Teach your boys to swim.

For moms who hold their boys afloat

Do keep the fear in them.

But if you would build up your son

Into a stronger man,

Let him swim the course alone:

Do not reach out your hand.

Your love for him will sink him down

If he relies on you. 

But if your love would let him float,

Release your son to do.
