Elijah James

Be patient for the coming of the Lord;
See how the farmer waits for precious grain.
So will the harvest come as we've been told
When heaven's blessings burst from worldly pain.

Let those opposed by time submit to prayer
While rooted in this dirt clod we call earth,
For in another day or month or year
The body here will die as spirit births.

Here fall down into rot both stump and limb
Where worms and maggots on the flesh do feast
And chew the corpse into the sodden plains.

Meanwhile the fruits of you to God ascend
In chariot pulled by Elijah's beasts
Who prayed that God release the latter rains.
