So since we are God's offspring, we ought not
Consider that he from us is offsprung
In works of gold or bronze which we have wrought
Or contemplative hymns by poets sung.
For ignorance of man he overlooks
Until a time appointed to repent,
When all mankind be judged for all his works
By one that he hath chosen to appoint,
And proof to us that he who has been giv'n
Authority to judge those he gives breath
By spirit that descends on us from heaven
To send us each by each toward life or death
Is this: that he to death did once submit,
But conquered it not he: he conquered it.
