Prepare the Way of the LORD

When Gabriel did meet Israel's priest
To summon from his loin obedience,
The priest in sad reply confessed to sin:
"How shall I know that what you say is true?"

Still veiled within the Glory of the LORD
Was Zacharias stricken to be mute,
And thereby given no glad speech to pass
The testament of what the LORD had spoke.

Without the host of Israel did wait
To hear a message from the Lord of Hosts,
But in one deed alone the priest could be
Faithful still to God, to plant a seed.

Who hears now what the LORD has spoke to be,
And kept his faith still wrapped in flesh of doubt?
