Alarm!

At 7:00 a.m. each morning
My alarm would sound,
But I would not notice it
For fifteen minutes or more.

Eventually, my father would yell up the stairs,
"Benny, wake up!"
"It's time for school!"
"Up and at 'em!"

And with great difficulty
I would rise from my bed,
Shake off the sleepiness of adolescence,
And march toward another day of school.
