Turtle

I love this turtle.

I keep her safe in the bottom of a litter box
That I found among the items in my garage,
And which I have filled with
Dirt, rocks, leaves, tufts of grass,
And two purple flowers.

I have painted her shell with
Lime, magenta, coral, violet
And fed her grapes and earthworms.
I have given her water
To drink from a metal dish larger than her own body.

What more does she need
To feel my love?

And why does she claw the walls?
